Design · Emily
Engineering makes a website work. It doesn’t make it look like your business. Emily is the third of us, a graphic designer, and she does the identity, the interface and the imagery. Her time is charged separately, by the day, and it is not inside any price you’ll see elsewhere on this site.
Said plainly, on its own page, because this is exactly the sort of thing our industry lets you discover at invoice time.
Every price on the price list, in Foundry, and in the quote calculator is the price of building the website: the engineering, the structure, the accessibility, the handover. Those numbers do not include Emily’s design work.
That isn’t a catch, it’s a choice. Plenty of clients already have a logo, a palette and photographs they’re happy with, and we’d rather build against those than charge everyone for design they don’t need. If you do want her, she’s priced in days, before she starts. Never afterwards.
To be clear about what you get without her: Michael and Ali lay out the interface as part of every build. Clear structure, sensible hierarchy, a page that behaves itself on a phone, all included, all covered by the build price. What we aren’t is artists. We can make a website work and make it legible; we can’t give it a look that’s yours. That’s a different skill, Emily has it and we don’t, and pretending otherwise is how you end up with a site that quietly resembles a template.

All of the graphic design, whether or not a website is involved.
£160 / day
Logo, type, colour and the rules for using them. The thing your website, your van and your invoices all have to agree with.
£160 / day
The interface, drawn properly before it is built. We lay out a workable page in every build; Emily is what makes it look like yours rather than merely tidy.
£160 / day
Illustration, graphics, photo treatment and the visual assets a site needs so it doesn’t fall back on stock photography.
£160 / day
Cards, signage, menus, decals. The same identity carried off the screen and into the physical world.
The artwork she makes is yours, in the original editable files, on the same terms as everything else we hand over. No licence, no renewal, no asking us for your own logo back.
One rate, £160 a day, whatever the work is.
Emily’s work is billed by the day rather than by the project. Here is what that rate is and how it’s counted.
